How Much Was $25 in….?

In an old Andy Hardy movie this morning, Mickey Rooney applied for a $25 scholarship.  It was a really big deal.  I wanted to know just how much....

In today’s dollars, it would be approximately $350.  Still not much, comparatively speaking. 

But look at this…

When I went to college, it would have been worth $88.  That was 1/4 of my college tuition for a semester.

At today’s tuition rates, it would only be worth 1/8 of my tuition.  That’s how much inflation we’ve had since the Reagan years.

And even worse, all this money we’ve been “making”?  It’s been cut in half.  We should all be making twice as much, if this country truly kept up with inflation.... It just goes to show you how rich the rich REALLY are.
